Merry & Bright Merry Monday #139

It certainly doesn't look very much like a winter wonderland outside today.  The temperatures have been mild and all the snow is melting leaving puddles at the curbs.  You take your life in your hands to walk on a sidewalk these days.  But I digress ---

The Merry Monday challenge here this week is to create a winter themed Christmas card.  I haven't made a shaker card in ages, so I decided to make one for this challenge.

I started by first making the image of the tree from the "Evergreen" stamp set.  It was stamped in Old Olive then Always Artichoke -  using the stamp-a-ma-jig to get the placement right.   Then masking the tree, I inked up only the trees from "White Christmas" with Memento ink and stamped the trees behind the Evergreen tree.  These trees were coloured with Crumb Cake blendabilities and the little red cardinal, which I also stamped on the tree, with the Cherry Cobbler blendabilities.  The sky was sponged with Soft Sky and Marina Mist, making snowflakes using Whisper White ink.
A white gel marker was used to make the snow on the Evergreen and the branches of the trees.  Some dazzling diamonds was added to the tree as well as the ground.

To make the shaker frame, I adhered a 4 by 5 1/4" piece of All is Calm DSP to the same size of Whisper White cardstock.  Then on the wrong side I marked a 1/2" border all the way around, and using the trimmer I cut the inside out.  A piece of window sheet was attached to the wrong side and then attached foam tape to this along the inside edges of the window.

In the middle of the image panel I placed some Frosted Sequins  and then adhered the shaker frame to the image frame making sure all edges were secured firmly.  You can see those sequins on the side view of the card.

To finish the card I embossed the sentiment on a piece of window sheet, attached it to Night of Navy cardstock, make it into a banner and adhered it to the bottom of the card over the edge of the window.

Night of Navy stars with a rhinestone attached  were adhered to all 4 corners and the 2 mid sides.
