High Tide

Another one of the new stamps in the Occasions catalogue Jan. 2017 is a seascape - a wonderful set featuring a light house and some sand pipers.  There are numerous stamp sets that let you build the scene as simply or as complicated as you want.
I tend to be more complicated than simple, so bear with me.

I started out making something totally different, but in the end settled on this Z fold card.  After trimming the image down to fit in the front of the card, I just couldn't throw away the cut off strip, so it was adhered to the inside of the card, lining it up with the front.  Perhaps it looks a little odd, but I like it.

The lighthouse was stamped with 2 step stamping - the first half in Basic Grey and the second in Smoky Slate.  With the Real Red ink pad and blender pen, part of the light house tower and the light house was coloured red.  A bit of Basic Gray and blender pen touched up the light house.  The sides were also emphasized a bit more.

The ground around the light house was stamped with Soft Suede; the sea grass with Old Olive.

In order to stamp the water around the light house and to create the sundown effect, the image was masked.

After stamping the water with Marina Mist, the beacon of light was stamped with Daffodil Delight; then the colours of the sky were sponged - Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Real Red.  The rest of the sky was sponged with Marina Mist, and at the top some Dapper Denim.  Some of the colours of the sky were reflected on the water. Some Dapper Denim and blender pen high lighted the horizon.

Lastly the sea gulls were stamped with Basic Gray
