Classes - Jan to June 2017

Start  Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017  7 to 10 pm and every 2 weeks thereafter. Another class has been added for Saturday morning Jan. 14 from 9 to 12 and in the afternoon from 1 to 4.  There will be no Sat. class on Jan. 21 as that is my Open House.

Cost: $25.00 or free if an order of $25.00 is placed from the Annual Catalogue (before shipping and taxes) or the Occasions Catalogue.

Location:  750 Lock St. Peterborough.  Come to the back door.

Please R.S.V.P  on the Sunday prior to class to let me know you are coming so that I can have extra kits prepared.  You can do this e-mail or phone.

Please note:  I will be placing the SU orders after the last class of every month to reduce shipping costs.

 What to bring  to class: All class materials are supplied with the exception of the stamp set(s). Bring with you a foam stamping pad,  adhesives (double sided tape, &/or glue stick, tombo glue, tape runner,&/or fast fuse, glue dots), pencil, pen, ruler, scissors (one for paper and one for ribbon) paper trimmer, bone folder, blender pen, aqua painter.  There may be additional supplies to bring from time to time.  Adhesives will be for sale if you do not have any or you run out. If you do not have a blender pen or aqua painter I will have some on sale at either the first or second class. Bring your catalogues with you as well.

Best Bird Class

In this class you will make 3 cards featuring the Best Bird stamp set.

Card #1  Bird House

This Hardwood background stamp creates the wood grain effect and the opening in the bird house made using the layering circle Framelits.  The birds are die cut using the bird and blooms Framelits. The sentiment and banner are from Thoughtful banners and punched with the Banner punch.

In this card the Swirly Bird framelit is incorporated with the Best Bird stamp set

Card #3:

Technique for this class is the Reverse masking technique.

October 5, 2016  Thanksgiving

To help celebrate the holiday season, we will be making 3 Thanksgiving related cards - two using the "Basket Wishes" stamp set and the third the "Acorny Acorn"

Card 1 Thinking of You
This card is from the Basket Wishes stamp set.
You will use the Big Shot to use the new Braid embossing folder, and to die cut the image using the layering circles framelit.  Colouring of the image will be done using a blender pen and ink pads.

Card 2  Cable Knit  Card



Using the new Cable Knit embossing folder  you will learn how to make this cable knit sweater.  Other tools you will use include the crimper, the badge punch and the 2" circle punch.                                     


Card 3: Acorn Thank You/Vintage Leaves




This class combines the Woodland embossing folder, with the Vintage Leaves and Acorn Thank You stamp sets.  The leaves are embossed with the new copper embossing powder, coloured and then die cut using the Vintage Leaves coordinating framelits, the Leaflets Framelits.  The parts of the acorn, are stamped, and then punched using the acorn builder punch.  All the elements are combined to form a wonderful Thanksgiving or fall card.


October 19, 2016  Halloween


Yes, in a couple of weeks it will be Halloween, so this week's class focuses on that spooky day.

Card 1:  Trick or Treat


After sponging the eerie sky (while masking the moon) the Halloween images are stamped

3D Item - Haunted House Treat Holder




Yes, there will be candy you can put inside this spooky haunted house. A  pieces for the haunted house will be pre cut.

Card 3
This card uses the Cookie Cutter Halloween with its coordinating punch.  Layering circles framelits create the background for the skeleton.

November 2   No class 


November 16, 2016  Christmas class

Before you know it, Christmas will be here.  In this class you will get a start on Christmas by making 3 Christmas cards.

Card #1 


White embossed window sheet overlay makes this a stunning Christmas card. Stamp set:  Merry Medley.  Lift up the embossed vellum and you see some die cuts from Pretty Pines Thinlets

A stunning technique using the Woodlands embossing folder, Holly Jolly Stamp set, Christmas thinlets on silver foil paper.




Card#3
For this card the Baby Bear and  Jolly Friends stamp sets are used as well as the coordinating punch. Triple stamping is used to create the bear image.


November 30  Christmas Tags

Twinchies!  Yes, we will be making cute little 2 by 2" cards that will be used as Christmas tags.  The pictures below are samples of what might be made in class.  The actual twinchies we will make will be posted later. These twinchies will be placed in a 2 by 2" clear acrylic treat box which you will decorate.












Note:  This will be the last class for this year.  Classes will resume in January.

Using the "Market Fresh" stamp set, you will make three 4 by 4 cards, and make coordinating envelopes using the Envelope Punch Board.  
In addition, you will make a Berry Basket to place the cards in. The Berry Basket will have a flower on the side and a bow on the handle.







Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015

The Watercolor Wings stamp set will be used to make one or more note cards. This stamp set uses the 3 step stamping method, and each student will be given 3 different colours of ink to make their butterflfy. To complete the card, a Basic Black medium butterflies thinlet will be die cut to adhere to the butterfly created.


A tote bag, similar to this one will be made to put the card it.

One of the stamp sets we are using is "Vintage Leaves" and its coordinating framelits "Leaflet Framelits Die".
In the one card, the leaves will be stamped, die cut, sponged with different colours, spritzed with water and crumpled into a ball.  After they are dry, some more color is added to the leaves and they are added to the card using a hot glue gun.
The background is also created using one of the smaller stamps from the set.  The DSP is "Into the Woods"

The second card uses the "Acorny Thank You" stamp set with the Coordinating Build an Acorn punch.

Halloween
Witching Decor Project Kit:  As a class we will put this kit together.  You will be asked on the first class if you want to participate in this project, and if you are I will order the kits.  You will need to pre-pay for this class.
If you would like to make this project but can't come to class, please arrange a one -on-one with me, but allow time to order the kit from Stampin' Up.

I've made a change in the class topic for November 4th.  The Woodlands embossing folder has become quite popular, so in this class you will made 2, possibly 3 cards using different techniques with this folder.

Christmas card making class


Since the Nov. 22 event was cancelled, I have scheduled an extra class for those of you who would like to make some Christmas cards.
This session will be similar to what would have been done on the 22nd.  Stations will be set up and you will move from station to station, making as many or as few cards as you want.

Fee:  Make 2 cards:  $10
         Make 4 cards:  $15
         Make 6 cards:  $20
         Make 6 tags:    $10

More information will be coming soon.
Register early, as I have limited room in my craft room for such an event.  Maximum people 10.

All Day Christmas Card Event (cancelled)

Join me for a Super Sunday of Stamping.  We’ll create 8  different Christmas cards and a bag of tags ready to go in the mail.
Date:   Sunday November 22, 2015
Times:  10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
Location:  201 Hunter St. East  (Times Square Bldg) Enter via Armor Road, turn left when through the gates and part in the front.  Room 215. There will be no cost for parking upon exiting bldg as Helen has arranged for tokens.
Cost:    $60.00 (lunch is provided)
Please R.S.V.P as soon as possible so that I can order supplies and get the kits and directions made.
